Parallel Final

Lots of celebrities and people are hidden addicts. particularly to drugs. About a year ago Cory Monteith died of a heroin and alcohol overdose. For my project I used a picture of him reflecting how the public saw him. The background is pictures of his inner thoughts and that's why I chose to do in a circular form like a thought bubble. You can faintly see some of the pictures behind face which I really like because it symbolizes that the drugs were a secret.

Pride

We faced a lot of different challenges while doing our project. The first was that we were not allowed to do chalk on the wall we chose and had to think of something new. We choose duct tape because we thought it'd last longer on the wall. Another problem we faced was that since were all different height we all saw the letters in another place. We decided to just have one of us look through the cardboard so we wouldn't mess each other up.
While doing out project we realized that the P and the R didn't look right. We moved the leg of the P and R around until it looked right. We spent a lot of time looking at it to make sure it looked right. We also noticed that due to the angle it was at part of the R didn't look as thick as all the other parts so we had to put more tape in that part.

Parallel

For my news story I chose the death of Cory Monteith. He died of a drug overdose but nobody knew he was an addict, not even the ones closest to him. For my project I found a magazine with him as the cover but I'm going to change his face to the face of a drug addict. It will still be on the same magazine cover which represents the fact that nobody knew about his addiction. I've seen people's faces after the use of cocaine but I'm a reluctant to look it up because its gross so in my draft I just put marks.

Perspective

Perspective
Our idea was to spell the word pride out but it's only legible if you look at it from a certain angle. At another angle it just looks like random scribbles. My group members are Michelle, Madyson, Ryn, Marissa, and Brittany. Michelle cut out the letter on cardboard and we use that to mark on the wall. It's a little bit complicated but over time we have gotten the hang of it.

Time

Artists Take Risks
I took a risk in this project because there was no guarantee that they would grow and I don't have a green thumb anyway. I also had to leave it during spring break which I was worried about but it didn't effect it so I was glad about that. The weather wasn't ideal for a long time which also worried me but it turned out well.
Artists Create Original Art
I had a hard time trying to figure out what to do for this project but I think my idea was really good. I didn't use a traditional media and it isn't what someone would commonly think of when they thought of art. I think that using life as a theme was original for this project.

Snapshot: Time

In this flower project I'm taking risks because there's no guarantee that the plants will grow. I personally do not have a green thumb-every flower I've ever gotten has died the next day. It's also tricky because I'm doing it at school and can't keep a constant eye of them, especially during the weekends. I did the project despite that it may not work because if it does work it'll be really cool. I hope it does work out and I have extra seeds that I could use to try again if it doesn't.
The concept of life and death really fascinates me and also confuses me. Your parents bring you into this world without your consent and you live life trying to make something of yourself just to end up dead. This projects reflects and shows the cycle of life and the mysteries.

I don't think I have reflected during this project at all. As this project continues I can begin to reflect and analyze the project. For my next project I can think about what I'm doing and if its going to work instead of just kinda winging it.

Origami

On Wednesday I watched the origami video. I was really impressed by all the people that pretty much devoted their life to origami. I didn't know that you could make so much things with a piece of paper and make it realistic too. I attempted to make some origami but I would get confused and move on. I did make star and a pocket type thing which turned out well though.

Snapshot 2

Artist Reflect
I am currently reflecting on my piece and deciding if I should add or change something or keep it as it is. I don't know if I should fix the part where I didn't go with the shape of the pear or of its not that big of a deal. I also am considering adding a shadow.
Artist Collaborate
Michelle is also doing a pair of pears so we made sure ours didn't look too much alike. She went a a completely different direction but we were still able to help each other because its still the same idea. I also asked the other people at my table what they thought frequently and they helped me make a choice for the background color.
Artists Solve Problems
I couldn't figure out what color to do the background. I used oil pastels to test put what colors looked better with the green.  I narrowed down my options but I was still wasn't sure. I accidently made a playful orange and was going to do that color but then changed to a playful purple because purple is my favorite color.

Snapshot

Artists Collaborate

At the beginning of each project, we discuss as a table and throw out ideas. This helps because someone else's idea may inspire you or make you think of something new. Throughout my work process I've asked the people around me what they think and if they have any suggestions. It has helpful because I'm really indecisive so another persons opinion can help me decide.

Artists develop art making skills

I made a painting because I've never done shading in one. In order to make anything look realistic you have to shade it correctly and the pears was a good choice to practice that. I also like how you can mix and create the colors when you use acrylic paint.

Artists Communicate Through Their Work
Although I do like looking at others people out of the box art, I personally have a less is more mindset. The Pair of Pears is simple but you can do so much with it at the same time. You can make it elegant and sharp or more abstract. You are still able to show yourself through the idea.

Text Art

For my text art thumbnail I did a cartoon version of Ed Sheeran with some of his song lyrics behind him. Originally, I was going to make his hair out of the lyrics but I drew him too small so the words weren't legible.

Tension

For the tension project I did a girl walking on rocks. It shows tension because if she's not careful she'll fall and get hurt. She has to be very slow and cautious to get across without getting hurt. I remembered seeing this picture and writing a poem about it so I decided to use for art as well.

Questionable 3D Project

I did the Hollywood sign for my project. I chose it because the Hollywood lifestyle is very questionable. Also the way Hollywood and the people involved in it is such a big part of our society and daily lives is questionable. I didn't want to make it out of clay because working with it is a classic. I asked my mom for some ideas and she said to cut it out of cardboard so I did. It was a lot harder then I expected and it didn't turn out exactly as planned but it was ok. I used scale by making all the letters the same length and width.
